New Requirements For Being Apart of the Worship Team at Impact Church

Recently the leadership team at Impact discussed the plans of moving forward with Connect Groups. (aka House Church or New Testament Church).
Part of the the moving forward full speed, is understanding that Connect Groups are not just another "program", but it is the very foundation of Impact Church. The New Testament Church was built and maintained through the House Church... meeting in their homes. All ministry, teaching, and fellowship was done in the home. 

Acts 2:42, 46, 47
42They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

46Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

1 Corinthians 16:19
The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Prisca greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.

What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.


The direction we are going as a Body is in the direction of House Church. The main focus is this concept. It doesn't mean we won't do things at the building, but, it does mean the main focus of Impact will be Connect Groups.

Now, since the worship team is a ministry of Impact Church, and the fact that those that serve on the worship team are ministers, it has been decided that if you wish to serve on the worship team, you must to an active member of a Connect Group in the area you live. Active meaning, you attend on regular basis. If you have any questions concerning the new policy, please feel free to contact me.

Some Things To Ponder For Worship Service

Thought I would share the verses the Lord put upon my heart for tommorrow. Be thinking about them and praying upon them. Many people have the misguided idea that being a Worship Minister, all you do is pick some songs and play them on Sunday morning. Yes... Some do that, but not me and so many other leaders just don't "play songs". I pray and seek the Lord about what He wants to do in worship. I prepare for a worship service just as I do when I preach or teach. 

I like to share, or educate those in the worship ministry about why we do we do it. Give a listen to the audio message I posted (it is about 14 min long) about the concept of singing praise in Psalms 105:2. And how having a right understanding of why we do something can have a mighty effect during worship.

Change is Good

I want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome as the new Worship Pastor. I know change can be difficult and sometimes uncomfortable. Trust me, I know what that is like. In the early 90's I got to be apart of some very awesome worship teams in the Houston area. And I have had the pleasure of being under and working with some great Worship Pastors. And there was a lot of change that went on during those years.

As we seek to expand our worship experience at Impact, no doubt there will be change in the way we do things... but change is a good thing when we seek to change or adapt to doing Bible things Bible ways. The art and science of worship is simply doing things the way God wants them done. And when we do things God's ways, blessings and prosperity follow. The science part of worship is digging into God's word, and seeing the way He wants things done. And then when we put those principles into action, the art or expression part kicks in.

So as we seek to do things God's ways in regards to worship, there will be times of discomfort and uncertainty. But, as long as we seek out God's counsel do it His ways, things will work out. Always keep in mind, you are ministers first and musicians second.
